Michael Miropolsky is a graduate of Gnessin Musical College
in Moscow, Russia, where he studied under Peter Bondarenko (assistant to
David Oistrakch) and Nelly Shkolnikova. He also studied conducting under
Yuri Simonov, Music Director and Conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre. For ten
years, he held a principal violin position with the Moscow State Symphony as
well as performing with the Radio & Television String Quartet, making many
appearances on television. He has performed in more than 25 countries around
the world and has recorded internationally on the "Melodia" label.
Throughout his career, he has performed with many famous Soviet and European
composers and conductors such as Khachaturian, Rozhdestvensky, Schnittke,
Herbig, Abbado, Svetlanov, Kogan and others. He has also served as Assistant
Conductor of the Gnessin Musical College. As conductor of "New Musicians"
Chamber Orchestra, he has traveled across Russia, giving many concerts of
classical and modern music.Since 1991, Mr. Miropolsky has been Assistant
Principal Second Violin with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and a featured
violinist. Along with his numerous musical activities; judging competitions,
extensive teaching, being concertmaster of the Northwest Sinfonietta,
participating in the Emerald String Quartet and Chamber Music Society of
Seattle, Michael Miropolsky also has been a featured soloist with the
International Music Festivals in Seattle.
Mr. Miropolsky strongly believes the value and importance of musical
education and is constantly doing presentations at schools as a violinist,
and also as conductor, coaching young musicians and orchestras in Seattle,
and all across the state of Washington.
Maestro Miropolsky was both founder and conductor of the Jewish Community
Center Chamber Orchestra, and conductor of the Northwest School Orchestra in
Seattle.
For six years, Michael Miropolsky was founder and conductor of the
Seattle Conservatory of Music Chamber Orchestra "Young Virtuosi", building
the finest student group in the area. He released the group's first CD, "The
Best of Young Virtuosi" in 2001.
In 1999, Michael Miropolsky founded and became an Artistic Director of
the Seattle Violin Virtuosi.
The group earned immediate recognition from the critics and audience. Their
first CD, "On Wings of Song" has been released in 2001 and second CD, "Fantomen"
has been released in 2002.
In October 2001, Mr. Miropolsky was invited to conduct the
Cascade Symphony Orchestra in
their opening season concert and received an overwhelming response from the
critics and audience. A few months later he was chosen to become the
orchestra's new Music Director and Conductor.
In Spring 2002 Michael Miropolsky launched the new group Seattle Chamber
Orchestra.
