James Truher has been a professional musician since 1982, and has
degrees in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting as well work in
Masters of Arts in Musicology from California State University at Los
Angeles. Mr. Truher has studied conducting with Roger Wagner, William
Hatcher, Donald Brinegar and Sergio Siminovich and specialized in music
from the Medival to Baroque periods. In 1983 he made his conducting
debut with the Pasadena Chorale and Orchestra with his orchestration of
'Rejoice in the Lamb' by Benjamin Britten. He has been guest conductor
for the Early Music Ensemble of Los Angeles, I Cantori, Los Angeles
Baroque Orchestra and the South Valley Symphony. James founded the
chamber music group Ensemble Elysium in 1997 and performed in many
locations throughout the San Francisco bay area. Prior to relocating to
the Seattle area, James was selected as the Music Director for the South
Valley Symphony's 1999-2000 concert season. He is currently the
conductor of the Microsoft Orchestra, a community based classical
orchestra in Redmond.
As a singer and soloist, Mr. Truher has worked with Roger Wagner, LaNoue
Davenport, Krzysztof Penderecki, Michael Tilson Thomas, Doug Fullington
and many others. An active studio singer, he has made recordings with
Michael Jackson, Mike Curb and John Williams and has been a featured
soloist with Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and I Cantori, performing on
National Public Radio and KFAC Los Angeles.
As a recorder soloist, James has performed with Edward Cansino, Lou
Robbins, Bella Musica in Berkeley and the South Valley Symphony. With J.
Melvin Butler and Paige Stockley, he presented a recorder recital at
Saint Mark's Cathedral Seattle in April of 2001. |
