David MacKenzie is
Artistic Director of Rogue Opera in Oregon, Music Director of SyZyGy
a contemporary ensemble, and a frequent guest conductor with
orchestras across the United States, in the Orient, and South America.
He was the founding
Music Director and Conductor of the Orchestra Atlanta from 1984-1986,
and has served as Director of Orchestras at the University of Kentucky,
University of Northern Colorado, and Georgia State University. He
served as Principal Guest Conductor of Orquesta Sinfónica del Valle in
Cali. Colombia, Associate Conductor of the Greeley Philharmonic
Orchestra, and Assistant Conductor of the Lexington Philharmonic in
Kentucky.
Dr. MacKenzie is active
as a clinician and has conducted the All-State Orchestras of Georgia,
Minnesota, New Mexico and Washington, and festival orchestras in
Colorado, Georgia, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Dr. MacKenzie completed
graduate studies at the Yale University School of Music, where he
received the Master of Music, Master of Musical Arts, and Doctor of
Musical Arts. He received the Bachelor of Music from the University of
Tennessee.
