Assistant Conductor, Barney
Blough is currently the Music Director and Conductor for the Pacific Chamber
Ensemble, and is also serving as Assistant Conductor for the
Lake Union
Civic Orchestra. In December of 2001 he conducted the Nutcracker with LUCO
in collaboration with the
Evergreen City Ballet.
This year he has
conducted the musicals
Chess and Hello Dolly, both with the
Eastside Musical Theater. He has also conducted several other musicals
including Guys and Dolls with the Eastside Musical Theater, Kiss
Me Kate at Garfield High School, and Meet Me in St. Louis at
Roosevelt High School.
Mr. Blough was formerly the Music Director of the Seattle Chamber
Orchestra, and has been a Guest Conductor for the
Spokane Symphony,
Orchestra Seattle, Seattle Junior Symphony and the Emerald City
Philharmonic. He has studied conducting with Vilem Sokol, Director Emeritus
of the Seattle Youth Symphony, Pulitzer Prize winner Gunther Schuller at the
Festival at Sandpoint, and most recently he studied the Nutcracker with
Stewart Kershaw, Principal Conductor of the Pacific Northwest Ballet.
For the past 10 years Mr. Blough has been a Sectional Coach for the
Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras, working frequently with Junior Symphony,
Classical Symphony, Debut Symphony, and Symphonette. Mr. Blough has also
served as a Horn Coach with the Seattle Youth Symphony's
Endangered
Instruments Program in addition to teaching private music lessons. Mr. Blough is active as a horn player, currently playing with
Orchestra Seattle
and the Cascadian Wind Quintet. His horn teachers include Richard Jensen at
Central Washington University and Christopher Leuba, former Solo Hornist of
the Chicago Symphony. Mr. Blough received his B.A. in Music Performance from
Central Washington University, and earned his Teaching Certificate from Seattle
Pacific University in March of 2002. |
